Transmission cooler replaced. This job was done back in 2016 however I failed to document it here until now. My mechanic claims that he has never seen an internal failure of an oil-to-coolant transmission cooler, only a failure that results in external corrosion and leakage. I am sold though on the GoWesty article theory that it is best to eliminate all together the chance of transmission fluid mixing with engine coolant.
